THE HOPE SOAP
Edition 2016-023
Welcome to the 23rd edition of my regular President's update, The Hope Soap.

Last Week

At last week's club assembly meeting we heard from a couple of members about some great new ideas, namely -
  • Christmas Buggy Parade (Wayne)
  • Walk with Me (Prue)
If you would like to help or share some ideas on these two ideas then please feel free to reach out to Wayne and Prue respectively.

This Week

At this week's meeting we will be hearing from our District's Rotary Foundation Chair, Neil Jones.

Our Club is a leading contributor to the Rotary Foundation and it will be fantastic for all of us to hear more about Rotary's own charity.

Committees Chairs should be aware that next Thursday is a scheduled Board meeting so if you need to have a meeting of your Committee to present recommendations to the Board you should do so ASAP.  The Boat Show Committee in particular will need to to do this.OzHarvest is the first perishable food rescue organisation in Australia that collects quality excess food from more than 2,000 commercial outlets and delivers it, direct and free of charge, to more than 900 charities including right here on the Gold Coast. - See more at: http://hopeislandrotary.org.au/event/19-apr-17-meeting-1/#sthash.xGfeCTUK.dpu

Next Week - Meeting at Griffith University

A reminder that next week we will not be meeting on Wednesday (21st June).

Instead we will have a joint meeting with the Griffith University Satellite Club, starting at 7:30am on Thursday, 22 June at G's Cafe at the Southport Campus.  G's Cafe is located in Building G40 in the Health Centre (see link to map below).  Breakfast will be followed by a tour of the the Glycomics lab should you wish to do so.

For organisational purposes, all members planning to attend must email Regina Tucker (r.tucker@griffith.edu.au) by next Tuesday, 20 June. In the email you must nominate -
  • Your breakfast order (if you are having any) from the menu (see link below).  Please note that payment will be required as you leave the venue.

  • If you require parking on the day.  To reduce the amount of parking required it would be great if members planning to attend could consider car pooling where practical.
I strongly encourage all members to attend if possible.
